Q: When I call around for service, why do I get such a wide range of pricing?

A: Many companies give a minimum price over the phone. Then, when they arrive, they tack on additional amounts for add-ons, up charges and extras. DON'T BE FOOLED BY ADVERTISED SEPTIC PRICES THAT CAN BE MISLEADING.

At Metro Septic and Plumbing, we give you a fair, honest, up-front, flat rate price that includes everything, NO ADD-ONS, NO UP CHARGES, NO EXTRAS. The price you receive over the phone is the price you pay.

Q: How does my septic system work?

A: The first stage of your waste water system is the septic tank. It removes the solids by holding waste water in the tank and allowing the heavier solids to settle to the bottom as sludge and the lighter particles to rise to the top as scum. Then the effluent (the technical name for the partially treated liquid coming out of the septic tank) flows out of the septic tank into field lines where it is absorbed into the soil and evaporated by the sun.

If the septic system is not properly maintained the solids will build up and overflow into the field lines, or block the inlet or outlet lines causing system failure.

Q: How often should I have my septic tank serviced?

A: As a homeowner you’re responsible for maintaining your septic system. Properly maintaining your septic system protects your biggest investment, your home.

You should have your septic system pumped out and inspected at least once every 3 to 5 years.

Q: How long will my septic system last?

A: If properly designed, constructed, and maintained (see above), your septic system can provide you with long term (20 + years), trouble free, effective treatment of household wastewater.

Q: I've heard of people who have lived in their homes for 10 years and never had their system serviced. Why should I have mine serviced every 3 to 5 years?

A: Some people like to play the odds. If your septic system isn’t properly maintained, it WILL, at some point, fail. Possibly backing up and flooding your home with raw sewage (not a pleasant occurrence).

If your system fails, you may be forced to replace it and/or your field lines, costing you thousands of dollars.

Q: Are there any other dangers if I don't maintain my septic system?

A: Yes. A malfunctioning system can contaminate the groundwater table, a possible source of drinking water.

Q: What else do I need to know about my septic system?

A: If you sell your home, your septic system must be in good working order. Normally you are required to have your system inspected by a licensed, certified septic service (like Metro Septic). If the system fails the inspection, it will need to be brought to good working order before you can sell the property.

Q: Do you offer plumbing services?

A:Yes we do. All plumbing repairs are made by a Georgia Unrestricted Master Plumber.

Q: I just had my tank pumped about a month ago, should I get it pumped again for free?

A: Pumping the tank carries no warranty, so there will be an additional charge to pump the tank again. Please see Warranty Info for more information.
